NYS Math Exam is THIS WEEK!!!

Don't forget to bring in: at least 5 sharpened #2 pencils, a ruler, and a protractor!!!!

NYS Math Exam is April 25th, 26th and 27th!!!
Students should be studying their notes EVERY night in preparation for the test!

Rectangular Prism Project - Due Wednesday, April 3rd

Students are to find a rectangular prism that they encounter in their daily life.  Students will describe what makes the object a rectangular prism, measure and record its dimensions, find the volume, draw a net, and find the surface area.

Characters on the Coordinate Plane - Due Monday, March 11th

Students were asked to chose a character based on difficulty.  On a labeled coordinate plane, students are to plot each point and follow the directions of the character in order to connect the different shapes.  In the end, the plotted and connected points should create a character.  You must use a ruler to connect and draw all line.  You may color in your drawing to at to the effect of the character.

Final Turn in day for assignments and extra credit is Friday, March 15th!  Late assignments will be penalized!

Geometry Unit

March will begin a new unit of study for our students.  We are transitioning from Algebra to Geometry.  Upcoming topic include drawing polygons on the coordinate plane, finding the area of polygons including quadrilaterals and finding the volume and surface area of three-dimensional figures.

Marking Period 3 Project will be given to students on Wednesday, March 20th!  Project will be due on April 3rd as the students return from Spring Break!

Spring Benchmark Acuity Exam

Students will be taking the exam in class from Wednesday, February 27th - Friday, March 1st.

Marking Period 2 Project - Due Friday, January 18th (during AM homeroom)

During this marking period we focused on several topics, including ratios, rates and proportions.  As a project, students will complete 5 different tasks that will showcase their skills and understanding.  The 5 tasks are aligned with the Common Core State Standards.  Each task will be graded on a scale of 1-3 (see posted rubric) and a total score will be added together for a final project grade (see posted conversion chart).

5 points extra credit for any project handed in early on Wednesday or Thursday!!!

The NYC Dept. of Education Grade 6 Mathematics Benchmark Assessment with be administered on Monday, December 16th and Tuesday, December 17th.

Please bring in at least two #2 pencils and a manual sharpener for yourself!!!
